7 Days of Post Spot Removal Laser Treatment

7 Days of Post Spot Removal Laser Treatment

As promised, I'm going to do a review of the 7 days after my laser treatment.

Just a little recap, the doctor has attempted to remove more than 30 spots on my face about a week ago. I was told not to go out under the sun. Initially, I plan to go for a hiking trip with a few of my friends and also lunch date with another friend. I had to cancel all of them just to ensure I had no chance of affecting the recovery of my laser wounds.

I was not supposed to wash my face for the next 24 hours right after my laser treatment. Right after, I could wash my face daily with mild cleanser and I was told to apply the repair cream each time my face feels dry.

When I checked on the internet, I learnt that it is important to ensure the wounds are not infected. Therefore, I applied hydrogen peroxide on the wounds to prevent any infection after washing my face.

Here's the result:

Within the first 4 days, scabs began to developed. The next few days, they dried up and eventually fell off on their own when I was washing my face. The wounds felt a little sensitive on my face on the first 2 days. But after that, it was okay.

Now the affected areas are more pinkish. I can't wait for my face to heal completely. I can head out tonight for a party!

I will update how I look a week later from now.

Spot Removal Laser Treatment in Okpo (Geoje) at Dr S Clinic

Wow..
I cannot really believe that my blog still exists after 7 years of being MIA.

Since my last post, I have ditched my ex-boyfriend, who was also my ex-fiancรฉ. He was found cheating on me and I'm glad that I moved on.

I am 33+ this year, ageing gracefully I hope. I am happily married. My husband is the most wonderful guy in the world! He is my best friend, my soulmate, my boyfriend and my pillar.
We have been married almost 3 years. We were married on 14 June 2014. I just love number 14! ๐Ÿ˜

I am currently living with him in South Korea. A place where many Singaporean women would love to be living in! I have lived here for more than 1.5 years. The beauty products are popular here, as well as the food, especially if you enjoy spice and meat.

I am currently living on an island called Geojedo, at the southern tip of South Korea. There are many foreigners living on this island. It is due to the existence of major shipyard companies which offers many job opportunities for expatriates and locals to work here. There are many who brought their families along and some came here alone to work.

Spot Removal Laser Treatment

Anyway, I have decided to return to this blog to share about my laser treatment experience. I wanted to remove my moles and spots on my face as many of them started appearing during the last few years. I have to admit that I am getting old and I am definitely guilty of not taking care of my skin when I was much younger. I am always out in the sun as I was from basketball CCA and NPCC during my high school days. I rarely put sunscreen which is bad I know.. and I am suffering from it now.

It took me a lot of courage to take this decision as I have super low tolerance of pain. In addition, the post treatment care requires a lot discipline too.

So finally, I took the plunge. I made an appointment with the doctor about a week in advance. This clinic was recommend by my Singaporean friend, Vivien, who had gone there for other kinds of treatments. She found this clinic with good reviews in the internet.

So, last Friday, I arrived at Dr S Clinic in Okpo. The ladies at the counter were very friendly despite their limited spoken English. I was required to fill up a form with my full name, alien card and contact number.

Consultation with Dr S

After that, I met Dr Seo Han Na. She could speak a little bit of English and took time to explain to me on what kind of treatments were recommended to fulfil my needs. She recommended me to do 2 to 3 rounds of CO2 laser. And it is dependant on how big each mole/spot is. I was told that to remove all the spots from the whole face cost about 160 000won. If I were to remove based on per mole/spot, it may cost up to 50 000won based of the size of each mole/spot. I have definitely more than 10 moles/spots on my face. Therefore, without a doubt I took the first choice. As a typical Singaporean, I tried asking for a discount, she told me that it was already at a discounted price as the clinic was celebrating their 2nd year anniversary.

I shared with the doctor how scared I am with the upcoming pain of the treatment. She told me that she will increase the duration of the application of the anesthetic cream to 20 minutes instead of 15min. That assured me that I was not going to feel too much of the pain later.

Cleansing of Face

Next, I was brought to a fitting room. It looked very conducive. It was a place to clean my face and remove any make-up. I did a thorough wash as I know that I will not be able to cleanse my face that well for the upcoming days after the treatment.

There was a locker for me to put my jacket and valuables. In additional, I was provided a pair of home slippers to change.

Taking Photographs

Once I was out, I was brought to a room to take photographs of my face. Front and both sides.

Application of Anesthetic Cream

Then I was brought into the management room to put anesthetic cream on my entire face.

It was quite strange as I felt some tingling sensation on my skin. But aren't I supposed not to feel anything?! As it is still winter, it was still pretty cold. Thankfully, the bed comes with heater. Therefore, it kept me warm and comfortable. There was music being played at the background too.

Laser Treatment

After 20 min, a nurse told me to head to another room. My heart skipped a beat as I walked into the Laser Treatment Room.

I saw the blue empty chair, waiting to be filled up by me. The doctor was already there. She told me to lie down on the chair. As I was lying down, suddenly, something soft flew above me and landed in my arms. It was a rabbit soft toy! I laughed and thanked the doctor for it. This soft toy came at the perfect moment as holding something soft at that moment would calm me down.

The laser treatment began. The doctor told me to inform her if it's too painful for me. There was a strong burning smell. The thought of the smell of a human skin (especially mine) was as huge turn off! ๐Ÿ˜“  I had to focus on anything else except this.

During the 1st round of laser, I could feel a slight pain in my skin in a few instances. It feels like an ant biting me at each spot. Spots which are closer to my eyes were more sensitive to pain. I squinched my eyes involuntarily. The doctor had to ask a nurse to use her hand to keep my eyes open to ensure my skin is flat and even to remove my spots. The doctor started to laser from the right side of my face to the left side of my face, burning every single spot/mole which she could find.

During the 2nd round of laser, similarly, the doctor went spot by spot from left to right. This time, the sensation of the laser was similar to the effect of a rubberband hitting each and every one of the spots. Yes, it was slightly more painful than the previous round but still bearable.

Lastly, the doctor did a last round of laser which covers the entire face. It was a prickling feeling as she started area by area, from the chin to the head. But it was not as uncomfortable as the first 2 rounds of laser.

FInally! The laser treatments were over.

Application of Ampule and Cooling Down Treatment

I had to return to the Management Room.

They put a cold towel over my face. Then a lady applied something on my skin. Right after, a machine was placed over my face. I was given a remote to alert the staff when the machine stops. If I am not wrong this is the treatment to cool down the sore and redness of my face right after the treatment. I remember the doctor sharing about ampules. Probably ampules were applied on my skin to help with the recovery.

Right after, the nurses started to put little bandages all over my affected areas.

Luckily, I was ready for this unsightful image. I brought my cap and my mask along!

My husband was waiting for me when I was out. He had no issues about my spots but supported me since I wanted this pretty badly.

Post Treatment Care Tips

I was given a note to advise me on the post treatment care.

I was so tempted to edit the grammar for them! I shall do it now..hehe.

Post Treatment Care Tips

1. If your treatment is done during the day, you may place an ice pack over the affected areas indirectly to reduce soreness.
2. Keep the affected areas moisturized by applying the repair cream frequently.
3. Drink enough water and put sunblock after the treatment.
4. Refrain from perspiring and avoid saunas for the 1st week after the treatment.
5. Refrain from smoking and drinking. / Don't take spicy food for the 1st week after the treatment.
6. Avoid removing your scabs as they will naturally fall in 7 to 10 days.
7. Apply sunscreen whenever you are out under the sun.

This is the repair cream and sunscreen lotion which they recommended.
